Steam Swindon

Steam Swindon, on the site of the old Swindon Railway Works, shows the history of the Great Western Railway that made the town a thriving industrial centre in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The museum tells the story of the men and women who built, operated and travelled on the railway, that Isambard Kingdom Brunel built to link London Paddington with Bristol, South West England and South Wales. Famous GWR locomotives and rolling stock are the highlight of the exhibition, supported by displays, videos and railway memorabilia. Steam is about 15 minutes walk from Swindon railway station. Free car parking is available in the adjacent Swindon Designer Outlet North Car Park (with a valid admission ticket) , enquire when you buy your ticket. www.steam-museum.org.uk/Pages/Home.aspx
