Llanberis Lake Railway

The Llanberis Lake Railway runs from Llanberis village, at the foot of Mount Snowdon, along the shores of Llyn Padarn to Penllyn. The service starts at Gilfach Ddu, next to the National Slate Museum. Here there is a cafe, shop and ample car parking. From Gilfach Ddu the train heads first into Llanberis village, where passengers can also board.

Enjoy the sensational Snowdonia scenery as the train runs non stop along the lakeside to Penllyn. There is no station at Penllyn but, on the return journey, the train stops at the lakeside picnic spot of Cei Llydan and passengers can alight and complete their journey to either Gilfach Ddu or Llanberis on a later train. Llanberis Lake Railway is one of the Great Little Trains of Wales and all services are hauled by narrow gauge steam locomotives rescued from nearby slate quarries and the return trip takes about an hour. All trains have wheelchair accommodation but spaces are limited so pre-booking is advised.
