Cefn Coed Colliery

Cefn Coed Colliery mined coal in the Dulais Valley five miles north of Neath. Once the deepest anthracite coal mine in the world, the museum tells the story the dangers of the mine and pays tribute to the many who lost their lives in the pit known as ‘The Slaughterhouse’.

Life in the anthracite coal mines of South West Wales is recreated with words, pictures and artifacts and underground gallery simulates the working conditions the miners had to endure daily.
