Newcastle
Newcastle and Gateshead stand on opposite banks of the River Tyne in North East England. Joined by the iconic Tyne Bridge and Millenium Bridge Newcastle and Gateshead combine to offer an ideal venue for a short break or a superb base for touring North East England.
The area offers top class museums, the largest shopping centre in Europe and a revitalised Riverside packed with waterfront bars, restaurants and galleries. The Geordie welcome is famous and the nightlife has been acclaimed “The best in Britain”. The modern city still retains a sense of history including beautiful architecture, ancient city walls and the castle that is no longer “New”.
There are excellent rail, and road links, the regular train journey from London takes about 3 hours. Less than an hour’s drive from Newcastle lies an unbelievable selection of places to visit including the Northumberland National Park and the Northumberland Heritage Coastline.
Step back in time at the Beamish Open Air Museum, visit St Mary’s Lighthouse at Whitley Bay, explore Alnwick Castle where Harry Potter was filmed or wander along Hadrian’s Wall. The choice is yours.
